Post Production Editing

Although I did not receive many negative criticisms about my magazine, I decided to change what had been suggested that I change by my peers. The first thing I put my focus on was my content page. Before I had turned in my first draft of my project, I was already not satisfied with the result of the page. Something about it simply did not look correct and it did not blend in with the rest of the magazine. This was also the only big thing that was suggested to be changed. I decided to tackle the background first. Originally, I had a simple purple to black gradient as the background that I decided was too plain and uninteresting. I had considered putting photography in the background of the content page, but decided against it as it would be hard to read the text on top and it would be too distracting for the reader. Instead, I settled on creating a similar background to my main article, which had a unique pattern. To come up with the color scheme I decided to just use the images I had on the next page over from the content page. These pictures had neon lighting and would create a background that would match the purple and red color scheme. I took the image to photoshop and used the liquify tool to blend and distort the image until it looked similarly to running paint. I then used the oil paint filter and adjusted the options to my liking to give the page some texture. 

Once I finished the background, I then focused on the text itself on the page. The numbers on the page were originally rendered to be 3-D through photoshop, but I decided to change this because the numbers did not look the same size and did not look like the belonged. I shrank down the text on the content page to make it look more orderly and changed the font of the numbers, and then I was done.

Another suggestion I had for my magazine was to change the color of the tagline on my magazine. This is because the tagline was a light blue while the rest of the fonts on the cover were pink and white. I decided to go against this advice and keep the font the same color. I did this because I wanted to create visual tension on my cover in order to bring the readers focus to the tagline.
