How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? How did your production skills develop throughout this project? How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?     

This is the final draft of my magazine, Boundaries. My magazine is an alternative fashion/lifestyle magazine that features a main article in every published addition that focuses on a current issue in the alternative community. My magazine is not intended to be mainstream or to be published by a large company; it is made by weirdos for weirdos.  

Although I did not receive many negative criticisms about my magazine, I decided to change what had been suggested that I change by my peers. The first thing I put my focus on was my content page. Before I had turned in my first draft of my project, I was already not satisfied with the result of the page. Something about it simply did not look correct and it did not blend in with the rest of the magazine. This was also the only big thing that was suggested to be changed. I decided to tackle the background first. Originally, I had a simple purple to black gradient as the background that I decided was too plain and uninteresting. I had considered putting photography in the background of the content page, but decided against it as it would be hard to read the text on top and it would be too distracting for the reader. This week I shared my project with my class for them to critique and give me any changes that they think would be necessary. The comments that were made about my ma gazine were mostly positive. There were many comments about how people appreciated the commitment to the color scheme that was even incorporated in the photography in the  magazine . My classmates also said they liked how I framed my text  in my main article and table of contents with a transparent but dark rectangle.  However, even though the comments about my magazine were mostly positive, there were a couple of suggestions. Firstly, it was suggested that I changed the color of one of the  lines of text on my cover to incorporate the colors that were shown throughout the rest of the text on the cover. This week I completed my  finishing touches  on my magazine. I  went through and read the whole thing  and made sure everything was in the proper position and condition. I then went out and presented my magazine to two of my close friends and had them  point out any flaws or tell me any critiques  or changes they thought I should make to the magazine. They both agreed that I should change the color and placement of some of the words I had on the cover of the magazine to make it  look more visually pleasing and less confusing or hard to see and read.  I also was  advised to go  through and get rid of a few colors that I used throughout the magazine and replace them with colors that matched the color scheme of the magazine better. After this, I am content and satisfied with my  magazine as a whole .
